Tomato Ketchup

Ingredients

  • Tomato – 5 kg
  • Ginger – 200 grams
  • Sugar – 300 grams
  • Garam Masala – 2 teaspoons
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Sodium benzoate – ½ teaspoon
  • Acetic acid – 1½ teaspoons

Method

1. Wash the tomatoes.

2. Cut each tomato in 4 pieces.

3. Boil the pieces in a pressure cooker without water.

4. Let them cool down.

5. Now churn the tomato pieces in a mixer.

6. Sieve the content.

7. Boil the content in a non-stick utensil.

8. Make a potli bag containing ginger and garam masala.

9. Put the bag in the mixture.

10. Add sugar to the mixture.

11. Boil till the contents thicken.

12. Switch off the flame.

13. Let the mixture cool down.

14. Add the preservatives, that is, salt, sodium benzoate and acetic acid.

15. Store in sterilized bottles.
