Peas and Paneer Kofta Curry

Ingredients

  • Kofta
    • Peas – 300 grams
    • Mashed paneer – 250 grams  
    • Cornflour – ½ tablespoon
    • Salt – ¾ teaspoon
  • Gravy
    • Ghee – 2 tablespoon
    • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
    • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
    • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
    • Red chilli powder – ½ teaspoon
    • Garam masala powder – ½ teaspoon
    • Malai – 2 tablespoons
    • Onion – 2
    • Curd – ¼ cup
    • Cardamom – 2
    • Green chilli – 1 to 2
    • Cashew nuts – 1 tablespoon
    • Grinded tomato – 2
    • Green coriander
    • Salt to taste

Method

For kofta balls:

1. Boil the peas.

2. Grind half of the boiled peas and keep aside the rest of them.

3. Mash the paneer and add cornflour and salt to it.

4. Now, take some of this paneer mixture and make a kofta with some ground peas in its centre.

5. In this way, prepare kofta balls of the whole paneer mixture.

6. Mix 1 teaspoon cornflour powder with water.

7. Dip the koftas in the cornflour powder mixture.

8. Deep fry the dipped kofta balls on low flame.

For gravy:

9. Fry the onions.

10. Grind the fired onions with cashew nuts and 2 tablespoons of water.

11. Now take a wok and add ghee to it.

12. When the ghee is hot, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, cardamom and green chilli.

13. Sauté for 15 seconds.

14. Add the onion mixture to this spice mix.

15. Add tomatoes to the above mixture.

16. Sauté for 4 minutes.

17. Add red chilli powder and coriander powder.

18. Now, add curd and keep stirring till the mixture boils.

19. Now, add the peas that were kept aside earlier.

20. Add green coriander and malai to the above mixture.

21. Sauté for 30 seconds.

22. Switch off the flame and add garam masala.

For final phase:

23. Place  koftas in a bowl.

24. Pour hot gravy on them.

25. Serve.
